How to run Android applications in using google chrome in any Operating System.

Sachin R Kukale - 11:16
In last article we reviewed top 5 Android emulators for Windows OS. But what if you are not running the most comfortable Windows OS? Is there any way to run your favorite Android applications on Linux or MacOS? Can we run Android applications without using Android emulators? The answer to all these questions is YES!Yes you can run whats app on any operating system just by using the google's chrome web browser.

Google has developed an application called ARC Welder. ARC stands for App Runtime for Chrome. The ARC is primarily developed for the Google's operating system for notebooks known as Chrome OS. But this app is available for using with Google's chrome web browser also. This is free app like most of the Google's services for individuals.

What you need?

To setup the you need following three things only:
  1. Any laptop with any operating systems with chrome browser installed on it.
  2. ARC Welder App
  3. APK files for an Android application that you intend to run.

Steps to install and run Android applications in Chrome browser:

  1. First of all open your chrome browser and download the ARC Welder app using the link provided in second step.
  2. If you are using ARC Welder for first time then it will download some necessary files which are big enough; but this is for first time only.
  3. Setup the local directory on your computer which will be used to install apps and write and read for ARC Welder app.
  4. Now you have to download the ".apk" files for the Android application that you intend to run on your chrome. You can get ".apk" file for most of the Android apps from sites like apkmirror.com.
  5. Now click on "ADD APK" option in your ARC Welder app and point it to the ".apk" files downloaded in above step.
  6. Next click on "Download ZIP" and save it to the local directory you have created for ARC Welder app.
  7. Go to the ARC Welder app directory and extract the downloaded ZIP files.
  8. You have to enable the "Developers Mode" in your chrome browser. For this go to Window >> Extensions and check the box labled as "Developer Mode"
  9. Click on option "Load Unpacked extension" and provide the path to the directory where you have extracted the ZIP files in previous step.
  10. When you download the ARC Welder app one launchpad to launch all the google services will also be downloaded. Click on that icon of Android app to start running the app.

Now the point is that it is claimed that this app is for developers to test their own Android applications but don't you think google is trying beat the monopoly of Windows? May be or may not be. This application still in development and it has bugs which will be fixed in it's version. Also this application is not properly running and I got some problem while setting it up!. Many users have also claimed that this application crashes when they tried to open the apk files! (Courtesy comments section chromestore) But as these bugs may be fixed in next version, it will be greate option to run Android applications. Meanwhile if you find the setup difficult you can try one of the Android emulator for windows.

Top 5 Android emulators for windows 7.

Sachin R Kukale - 08:42
There is one good news for everyone! Now you can run Android applications on your Windows, Mac or Linux and that you inside your favourite browser Chrome! Yes this is true and there is Chrome applications called "ARC Welder App" and it is developed and released by Google. But this is not topic for the current article. In this article we are going to discuss about the top five Android emulators that can be used on Windows 7.
Many people ask questions about how to run WhatsApp in Windows PC? How to play Android games in Windows PC? In this article you will get answers about all these questions. After reading this article not only you will be able to run particular Android application or game in your Windows laptop but you can simulate whole Android OS in your Windows PC or laptop. These Android simulators creates a virtual environment which is identical to Android operating system which enables us to run the Android apps or games using that virtual environment.

  1. BlueStacks:
  2. BlueStacks is perfect Android emulator for your Windows PC! It is the best in it's category due to various customizing features. You can run almost all the Android applications using bluestack. Using blusatcks is also very simple and any new user can also use it easily. If you are inside the bluestack it is like your are running Android PC or whatever you may think. But it is great application. There is one built-in application in Bluestacks full version (I am not sure about whether it is available in free version!) called 'AppSettings' where you can decide whether the application or game will be displayed in tablet version or in smartphone version. This is one of the best features of this app as sometimes it is difficult to use the app in smartphone version. Another feature is fullscreen mode. You can go completely full screen hiding the entire windows desktop by clicking on icon which is placed at bottom right corner besides the close icon. The only disadvantage of this app is it plays lot of paid advertisements in free version and you have to (there is no choice for it in free version!) download their sponsored applications thought besides that you can download other applications from playstore also.

  3. YouWave:
  4. YouWave is another is such Android emulator which completely free! In this emulator also it is possible to run almost all the Android applications and it runs applications in smartphone like screen only! So giving you the more feel of using Android application on smartphone. But the disadvantage of this emulator is that you have to download the Android applications files in '.apk' format and then you can install those files in YouWave. This may be difficult for the newbies but sometimes you have to do some extra work. Another disadvantage of this emulator is that it does not support the full screen mode which is quiet inconvenient while using some applications which are specially designed for smartphone screen.

  5. GenyMotion:
  6. GenyMotion is another Android emulator in market with large screen support but not fullscreen like Bluestacks. But when it comes comes to performance it can comepte directly with our top Android emulator Bluestacks. In this emulator is is also possible to run almost all the Andorid applications including whatsapp and many games. The main advantage of this emulator over Bluestacks is that it has the resizable window which is not supported in Bluestacks. Though in bluestacks screen size will be changed depending upon the version of app you are playing (tablet or phone) it is not possible to resize the screen in bluesatcks. The application free for personal use but with limited features and if you want application with all the features then you have buy the paid version by spending 24.99 pounds per user per months which is quite not affordable though it comes with advanced features like hardware accelrator and OpenGL support. You will not need to install the virtual machine software to use this it will run on that virtual machine only!

  7. Windroy:
  8. Windroy is Android simulator for Windows PCs as its name suggests! Windroy is unique in the sense that it runs the Android OS on Windows kernel. So you won't need to install the extra software for using the Windroy. Another thing you must remember while installing Windroy is that you must include any spaces in its installation directory path. It supports the playstore so you can download any Android application directly from the playstore.

  9. Xamarin Android Player:
  10. Xamarin is quite unpopular Android OS simulator for Windows. It is good and has performance capablities which keeps it in the top list. The two more important things about Xamarin are it is free to use and it supports both Windows and Mac OS equally. So now you have the chance to run your favourite Android applications on Mac OS also! Xamarin plays Android OS very efficiently with support to playstore which will be helpful for the new users in this category.
Using Android OS simulation is quite useful. You can check the performance of application before using it on your phone. You can also use the space available on your laptop/PC as Android devices has the limited space availability.
The other you can play andorid apps on your Windows PCs is by using the Android player which comes with Androdi Developer Studio or you can install Android player in your eclipse also. But these kind of ways are mainly for developers and end users may not want to get involved themselves in these things. It is quite difficult to install and manage such players but if you are Android developer then it is the best thing since it includes many customizing options like choosing the phone model to measure the performance of application you have created.

  13. Real Temperature and Core Temperature:

  14. Real Temperature and core temperature are different software application but both are used to monitor the temperatures of CPU only. Both have very good user interface with minimal information and both are tiny utilities for the same purpose thats why I have included them under one heading.
  15. CPU-Z/GPU-Z:

  16. These are the most used hardware monitoring utilities. CPU-Z is concerned about monitoring data about CPU and GPU-Z focuses more on your graphics card performance and load. These two are among the oldest utilities used to track the hardware performance data and they have tested all the times! Both CPU-Z and GPU-Z provides great and easy to use user interface along with real time data from hardware.
  17. FRAPS:

  18. FRAPS is the tool to solve all your problems related graphics. If you are not getting proper video or image display then this tool can help you to solve the problem. Top ten Ways to prevent your laptop from overheating.

Sachin R Kukale - 07:40
Nowadays laptops are more in use than desktops. In some sense desktops are robust and very easy to maintain. But this is not the case for laptops! Though laptops are evolved a long way and they can be used comfortable and perfectly for day to day use we need to care for these devices otherwise you may lose or hardware along with important data. The one most important problem faced by laptop users is problem of overheating. In every laptops there are fans to keep it cool and those are provided by the manufacturer; still sometimes you may feel that your laptop is overheating.
To monitor the temperature of the laptop or to monitor the performance of hardware of your laptop you need some softwares. You will get list of top ten tools to monitor the temperature of your laptop by clicking here.
So first lets see

Why laptops overheat?

The answer to this question is that when you are using laptops you will definitely run some applications on it. Running application means processing the data using CPU in some way or the other. So internally data processing means passing the current. So if you are using more applications more data will be processed and more current will be used which causes the laptop to or any other computer to heat. The other reason why laptops overheat more than desktops is that in laptops space is smaller and all the components are fitted in tiny places. Which means there is place for air to play in and out. So the laptops will create more heat than desktops. While using fans and cooler pads is one of the options to keep your laptop cool; in this article we will discuss the ways that can be simply implemented in order to prevent your laptop from overheating:

  1. Do not block your laptop's air vents. Most laptops have fans fitted inside it and those fans are responsible for throwing out the hot air from your laptop case. This can be achieved by using the hard surface to place your laptop. You can use a small notebook or book to keep under the laptop to prevent the blocking of air vents which are placed mostly beneath the case.

  2. If you feel your laptop is overheating and if it is on your lap put it down. Placing laptop on your laps will laso block the air vents.

  3. Close the applications which you are not using! Thereby you reduce the CPU usage and current flow which will prevent your laptop from overheating.

  4. Use software or apps to analyze your hardware. You may search the manufacturers website for availability of such software or app. If you do not find one you can try one of the software here to keep the record of your laptop's temperature.

  5. Use the power saver mode. You can control the power settings by navigating to "Control Panel" >> "Hardware and Sound" >> "Power options".

  6. You set the settings in BIOS defining the highest temperature to run your laptop. If your laptop goes beyind the specified temperature it will automatically shut down itself.

  7. Shut down your laptop for some time. Giving your laptop a break of 20 minutes either by hibernating it or by shutting down will help to reduce the temperature.

  8. Use cooling fans or cooling pads for your laptops.

  9. Clean the laptop for dust particles along with all the air vents! It help the built in fans to function smoothly which are the main tool to keep your laptop cool.

  10. If possible maintain the room temperature at it lowest. Do not use your laptop under direct sunlight. But this is not in our hands to maintain the cool surroundings always. But it is one of the options to cool your laptop.

So these are some ways to prevent laptop from overheating. Laptop overheating may cause many problems which may result in permanent failure of device or permanent loss of data. So it is better to keep you laptop cool always. In next article we will see the top five cooling fans or cooling pads for your laptop.

Advantages of Linux over Windows:How to choose between PC operating systems?

Sachin R Kukale - 04:52
We have Windows 8 which is latest in Windows OS along with Mac and really many versions of the Linux. In this article we will try to find out the differences between these operating systems. This article may also considered as your guide to choose the operating system for your computer.
First we will discuss the features of Windows which has about 89% of market share as of statistics of June 2014. The main reason behind such widespread use of Windows OS according to me, is very user friendly user interface, very large range of supportive products and applications and ease of use. It is the easiest operating system to use available today. You can perform many of the tedious tasks with only few clicks and without knowledge of command line commands. If you are efficient user of mouse you can do most of things in Windows operating system. So if you are beginner then Windows OS is best option for you; other than Mac OS.
Actually I don't much about the Mac OS because I have not used for long time. But still I can say that it has all the features of Windows OS like user friendly UI, easy task management, robust and wide range of software support along with some cool features like Dock station and cool graphics which you can not find Windows OS. Mac OS is also good for home users or who are beginners in this field.
So if you are just a home user and using your PC for social networking, designing or as media player either Windows or Mac OS; both are best option for you. The main difference (excluding those graphical UI differences) is that if you want use Mac OS then you must buy the Apple PC or Macbook but if you like Windows then there are really lot of manufacturers who are selling their PCs and Laptops with Windows OS. Excluding Windows Vista all other Windows OS have gained huge popularity and their market share of 89% indicates this clearly. Due to restriction of buying PCs only one manufacturer and due to high cost the Mac OS has current market share of 6.73% as of June 2014.
Now is the most interesting part of this article!!!Yes We are going to discuss some special things about the Linux OS. Linux is free operating system and you have to pay nothing to use the Linux OS. Moreover you can have the source code for Linux and you can change these OS's code to suite your needs(But remember to adhere to their policies while doing so...). According to me if you are computer engineer or software engineer or if you are enthusiastic who wants scratch the world of computing coding more and more then Linux is best operating system for you. Yes you read it well everything is true!!! Linux allows you to scratch your OS and if you are in trouble then go to the recovery mode of Linux and everything will be OK after performing some tasks. In these Linux OS has been developed so much that normal users can also use it efficiently! Thanks to the thousands of developers who are trying to develop more user friendly and more stable version of Linux. And the three important points about linux are:
  • Linux OS has literally hundreds of flavours like Ubuntu, RedHat, Fedora, CentOS etc. All are Linux and basic things are same but these differ slightly in UI and other advanced things. So you have more options to choose from.
  • Linux OS is completely free. The fact is that most of these companies like RedHat are earning by only selling the suppport for linux.
  • You will have access to source code of the Linux OS; which means lots of possibilities for you to experiment.
So coming to conclusion part of this article, I will say those who learning coding, designing should use Linux and those who want to use their PCs/Laptops only for basic purposes like surfing, browsing etc then go for either Mac OS or Windows. This does not mean that you can't develop applications or design in Windows or Mac OS but what I want to really say here is that if you want learn more and scratch your system then Linux is best option for you...

How troubleshoot the 'failure to boot' after upgrading your PC/Laptop?

Sachin R Kukale - 04:50
Here we will discuss the common problem faced by most of us after upgrading our PC/Laptop to a higher configuration. Due availability of large no of tutorials and variety of online shopping portals who are providing such parts of computer; many users want to upgrade their system on their own. But it may be too risky; so please do not open the system if you do not have previous experience/knowledge or if experienced is not with you.
The on common problem faced after system upgradation or after upgrading the RAM or memory is annoying error message 'Failure to boot'. This problem may cause due to various problems such as:
  1. Faulty placement of RAM in slot.
  2. If your system does not support that much amount of RAM.
  3. If the RAM is not compatible with your system.
There may be other reasons for this error but above three are the main reasons behind this error. Such errors are very annoying and and you might think it is very difficult to solve them but actually you can solve this error with very simple steps. After all if you can not start your OS then no use of Laptop. So here are some solutions to this error:
  1. If you are not able to boot up your system after upgrading the RAM then faulty placement of RAM in slot is the cause of this problem. In this situation when start your system you will get long beeps from the system and this indicates that you have not place your RAM in slot properly.
The angle at which the RAM should be inserted properly in slot is 30-50 Degrees. So if you are maintaining this angle while placing the RAM in slot this problem will be solved. There is no need to measure the angle accurately and you can do it just removing the RAM from its slot and placing it again in the slot.
  2. IF you have more than one slots for placing the RAM in your system then you can try shuffling the placement of RAMs in these slots. This solution also works fine to solve 'Failure to boot' problem most of the times.
  3. The next possible reason for such kind of error is that either of your RAM or its slots have problems. If this the reason behind your 'Failure to boot' error then you have to go your nearest repairing center. At least you have to change the faulty device i.e.either RAM or its slots
  4. Another reason may be the fact that you have not chosen correct RAM for your systems. Currently in market there are quite few types of RAM such as DDR2, DDR1, DDR3 etc. If your system does not support DDR3 RAM and if you are upgrading your system with DDR3 RAM then your will system will give the error message and in this case you have to buy the proper type of RAM for your system.
Hope these solutions will help you to solve your problem. Would like to know more problems from you!!!
