Sachin R Kukale - 11:01
Monitoring our laptop/PC's hardware is essential for many reasons. We can keep track which hardware is not working properly or which hardware is failing! Also we can monitor the CPU performance and load, battery performance and GPU performance also. In this article we will discuss about such tools which can be used to monitor the hardware of your laptop or pc. For downloading these tools just search on google and you will get many links to download these softwares as these are quite popular these days.
  1. Speccy:

  2. Speccy is the great tool to monitor everything related to hardwares of your laptop. The best things about speccy are its user interface which is best in this category, its grouping of data under various headings, and its ability to provide all the data at one place. I found no cons about this app and you can use it easily. Using this tool you can monitor the performance of your laptop's motherboard, optical disk driver,CPU, GPU, HDD etc.
  3. Hardware Sensors Monitor:

  4. You will find this as great because it claims to support all the windows operating systems straight from Windows NT to Windows 10. Well I have used this tool on windows 7 and it works fine and smoothly. This tool provides information all the hardwares of your laptop and their performance. As long as most people are concerned with the laptop's temperature it provides it exactly the same. It has great user interface and it classifies the data under various groups such as Logs (Which gives you the logs about failures while running your OS), Hardware, CPU info, VGA, Voltages, Fan (you will get more information about the speed and performance of your system fans), temperatures and HDD. These grouping of options makes it easier to use for normal PC users also.
  5. Battery Care:

  6. It is tiny utility that cares about battery performance only! It doesn't give any other information but it tracks the battery performance quite impressively. If you feel your battery performance is not up to the mark then this tool can be used to analyze the performance of your battery. For this you have to use the information under title 'Discharging information'. It gives the discharging information about your in terms of discharge cycles. So if your battery is discharging very fast then you can determine that using this tool.
  7. SpeedFan:

  8. In my last article about how to keep your laptop cool I have mentioed the use of monitoring the performance and speed of your system. This utility called SpeedFan does it for you. It gives you all the related information about fans in your system along with some necessary information like CPU load and clocks. If you want to monitor the performance of only fans then this is one of the best utility of for you.
  9. HWinfo:

  10. Again a great tool to monitor all the hardware of your laptop but it lacks in user interface! It runs perfectly on all Windows operating systems. The main disadvantage of this tiny tool is it's user interface which not properly configured. The best thing about it is that you will get all the hardware related data at one place. It covers A to Z hardwares along with their real time recordings.
  11. CPU Thermometer:

  12. It is again a small tool to monitor the temperature of CPUs. It does not give much information but it is best tool for beginners who are concerend with preventing overheating of laptop. It displays the temperatures of every core of CPU in a convinient way.
  13. Real Temperature and Core Temperature:

  14. Real Temperature and core temperature are different software application but both are used to monitor the temperatures of CPU only. Both have very good user interface with minimal information and both are tiny utilities for the same purpose thats why I have included them under one heading.
  15. CPU-Z/GPU-Z:

  16. These are the most used hardware monitoring utilities. CPU-Z is concerned about monitoring data about CPU and GPU-Z focuses more on your graphics card performance and load. These two are among the oldest utilities used to track the hardware performance data and they have tested all the times! Both CPU-Z and GPU-Z provides great and easy to use user interface along with real time data from hardware.
  17. FRAPS:

  18. FRAPS is the tool to solve all your problems related graphics. If you are not getting proper video or image display then this tool can help you to solve the problem. It gives the information about real time frame rate readings which will help you to sort out the video card related issues. It can measure the performance of your video card very effectively and you can make some changes in video card settings to improve your visual images or video quality.
  19. Open Hardware Monitor:

  20. Open Hardware monitor is free tool used to monitor the hardware data. The main disadvantage of this application is its poorly organized user interface. You will not find the grouping and information easily and you should have some experience to use this tool. Although it is hardware monitoring tool and you may think what experience is required? But as said earlier it only lags in user interface. It can also provide you all the hardware reading data at one place which is good for advanced users who wants to know about whats going inside their laptop/pc.
In this article we have discussed top ten tools to monitor your hardwares. In market many more utilities are available and it is not possible to list all of the here. I have organized this article based on some real experience so depending upon that experience I have listed these tools. All the tools are very small size ranging from 1.5 MBs to 4 MB maximum and all of them are free to use.
